Thermal Conductivity of Metal Rod Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-TCOMR-7373
Jlab Export is a leading Thermal Conductivity of Metal Rod Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Thermal Conductivity of Metal Rod (code EL-TCOMR-7373) is a conduction set-up in which a 25 mm copper bar, about 400 mm long, is heated electrically at one end while its other end projects into a cooling water jacket. A cylindrical shell of insulating material around the middle of the bar keeps the heat flowing along its length. Each copper-bar set-up is manufactured by JLab in Ambala, India.

From the Jacket Water to k
Water is run through the jacket at a constant rate and the rig is left until the bar temperatures stop changing. Nearly all the heat conducted through the insulated section is then carried away by that water. Timing the fill of the measuring cylinder with a stopwatch gives the mass flow rate ṁ, and with the temperature rise of the water ΔT the heat flow is Q = ṁ cp ΔT. The temperatures measured at the sections along the bar give the axial gradient dT/dx, and with the cross-section A = πd²/4, Fourier’s law gives k = Q / (A × dT/dx).
Plotting the Temperature Along the Bar
Plotting each section temperature against its distance from the heater gives the temperature distribution, the second experiment. Because the same Q passes every section of the insulated part, a straight plot means k is constant, while a curving plot means k changes with temperature and the local slope gives k at that point. Raising the variac setting lifts the whole profile, so the bar can be tested again over a higher temperature band.
Other Conduction Experiments
- Thermal Conductivity of Insulating Powder — measures k for a powder packed between concentric copper spheres.
- Heat Transfer Through Composite Wall — plots the temperature gradient across MS, Bakelite and wood layers.
- Heat Pipe Demonstrator — compares a heat pipe with copper and stainless steel pipes.
The rod set-up is filed under Thermal Conductivity of Metal Rod, part of the Heat Transfer Lab Equipment section.
