What Is the Power Electronics Lab Used For?
The board gathers the devices and drive circuits of a first power electronics course in one place. Its triggering circuit produces gate pulses from 40 Hz to 900 Hz, and PWM control sets the duty cycle of the four gate signals G1–G4 — the switching method behind choppers and inverters built with MOSFETs and IGBTs. On the single-phase rectifier the firing angle can be moved across 0°–180°, so students see how delaying the SCR gate pulse lowers the average DC output. The UJT, PUT, DIAC and TRIAC on the board are the classic trigger and AC phase-control devices taught alongside the SCR, and pulse transformers are the usual way of isolating a firing circuit from the gates it drives. Trainers of this kind are used in diploma, BE/BTech electrical and electronics, and BSc electronics laboratories.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of trainers for your power electronics bench.
- Single-topic boards — SCR triggering, phase-control or characteristics trainers can be quoted on the same enquiry if your syllabus sets them as separate experiments.
- Destination — the delivery city or port and your preferred delivery terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which power devices are on the Power Electronics Lab?
An SCR assembly of four 2P4M SCRs rated 600 V, 2 A, plus an IGBT (G4BC20S), a MOSFET (IRF540), a UJT (2N2646), a DIAC (DB3), a TRIAC (BT136) and a PUT (2N6027).
What frequency and amplitude does the triggering circuit give?
The gate pulses are variable from 40 Hz to 900 Hz with an amplitude of 12 V, and the duty cycle of gate signals G1 to G4 can be set anywhere from 0 to 100% by PWM control.
What does the 0°–180° firing angle control show?
How phase control regulates a controlled rectifier. With a resistive load, firing the SCR early in each half-cycle passes nearly the full half-wave, and delaying the firing angle towards 180° reduces the average output voltage towards zero.
Why does the firing circuit have isolated outputs?
In bridge and inverse-parallel SCR circuits the cathodes of the devices sit at different potentials, so each gate must be driven through its own isolated output, which is what isolated gate outputs such as the four on this firing circuit provide.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of trainers, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements and the tender reference, if there is one.
Who manufactures the Power Electronics Lab?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an electronics and engineering lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The Power Electronics Lab is built at JLab’s own works instead of being sourced from a trader, so colleges, institutes, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, each trainer is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer itself. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Togo in West Africa, Jordan in the Middle East, Iceland in Northern Europe, Guyana in South America and Eswatini in Southern Africa, for example. Institutions buying through tenders can find details on the JLab lab tenders page.
