Charles Law Apparatus

Product Code : EL-SLE-4825
Jlab Export is a leading Charles Law Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Charles Law Apparatus (code EL-SLE-4825) is a practical set used to demonstrate the thermal expansion of gases and to estimate the Celsius value of absolute zero in school and college physics and chemistry labs. It consists of a glass Charles’ law tube and a glass beaker with a stirrer, which serves as the water bath for the tube. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Charles Law Apparatus Used For?

Charles’s law states that, at constant pressure, the volume of a fixed mass of gas is proportional to its absolute temperature. In the experiment a column of air is trapped in the Charles’ law tube, the tube stands in water in the beaker, and the water is warmed in stages and stirred so that the air and the thermometer are at the same temperature. At each stage students record the temperature and the length of the air column, which stands for its volume in a tube of even bore. Plotting length against temperature gives a straight line; extending that line back to zero volume gives an estimate of absolute zero on the Celsius scale. The practical supports the gas laws in ICSE class 9 chemistry, the behaviour of gases in class 11 physics, and heat experiments in college laboratories.

Heat the water gently, stir before every reading and wait for the air column to settle. Handle the glass tube with care, let the beaker cool before emptying it, and rinse and dry both parts before storage.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 sets; plan one set per student group.
  • Tube details — mention any tube length or scale your practical manual specifies so JLab can confirm.
  • Thermometer and heating — add a thermometer, tripod stand and burner to the same enquiry if the lab needs them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Charles Law Apparatus demonstrate?
It shows that a gas expands when heated at constant pressure, with its volume rising in proportion to absolute temperature, and it lets students estimate the Celsius temperature of absolute zero from their readings.

How is absolute zero estimated with it?
Students plot the length of the trapped air column against the water temperature and extend the straight line until the volume would be zero. The temperature where the line meets the axis is the estimate of absolute zero in degrees Celsius.

What is included in the set?
One glass Charles’ law tube and one glass beaker with a stirrer. A thermometer and heating equipment are not part of this listing and can be ordered separately.

Why does the beaker come with a stirrer?
Stirring mixes the warm water so the whole bath, the trapped air and the thermometer bulb are at the same temperature, which makes each reading more reliable.

How is it different from Boyle’s law apparatus?
Boyle’s law apparatus varies the pressure of a gas at constant temperature to study pressure and volume; this set varies the temperature at constant pressure to study volume and temperature.

Who manufactures this apparatus?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and chemistry lab apparatus manufacturer in India that was incorporated in 2017 and operates from Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The Charles law apparatus is made in JLab’s own works and is not bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, each set is looked over before packing, and repeat or replacement orders come from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for instance Peru in South America, Finland in Northern Europe, Mexico in North America, Senegal in West Africa and Hungary in Eastern Europe. School tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
