What Is the Second Law of Motion Apparatus Used For?

Newton’s second law says that the acceleration of a body is proportional to the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass, usually written F = ma. This apparatus turns that statement into a bench demonstration: a spring gun drives the steel balls, and its two tensions let the teacher change the force of the launch and compare what happens. It fits the “Force and Laws of Motion” chapter of class 9 science and the “Laws of Motion” unit of class 11 physics, and introductory mechanics in college physics labs.

Because the mechanism is open to view, students can watch the spring being set and released. Clamp the unit horizontally and firmly to a support stand or a table clamp before use, keep the line of fire clear of people, and collect the steel balls after each run so they do not roll off the bench.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; one per demonstration bench or student group is a common plan.
  • Mounting hardware — add support stands or table clamps to the enquiry if your lab does not already have them.
  • Spare steel balls — mention them if you expect losses during student use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this apparatus demonstrate?
Newton’s second law of motion. A spring gun with two tensions drives steel balls, so a class can see how a change in the applied force changes the motion that results.

Why does the spring gun have two tensions?
The two settings give two different launch forces from the same unit. Running the demonstration at each tension lets students compare the results directly rather than relying on a single trial.

How is the apparatus mounted?
It may be clamped horizontally to a support stand or a table clamp. The unit has a 10 mm rod and is supplied with two steel balls; the stand and clamp are not listed as part of this product and can be ordered separately.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, the destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the purchase is for a tender.

Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and school science lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This apparatus is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, and spares and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. The company is registered for GST under GSTIN 06AADCJ9848D1ZE and holds Legal Entity Identifier 549300DTGS77DGYD6N03. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example South Africa in Southern Africa, Mongolia in East Asia, the Philippines in Southeast Asia, Congo in Central Africa and Tanzania in East Africa. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
