Getting Steady Readings at 0.001 g
At milligram resolution the last digit responds to draughts, bench vibration and convection from warm samples. Set the balance on a firm, level bench away from doors, fans and air vents, let hot samples cool to room temperature, and weigh chemicals in a container rather than directly on the pan. Loads below the 0.004 g minimum weighing are too small for a dependable result.
Using the Counting, Percent and Density Modes
Piece counting starts from a reference: place a known number of identical parts on the pan and the balance works out the average piece weight, then shows later loads as a count. Percent weighing stores one sample as the reference and displays each following sample as a percentage of it. Density determination compares a solid’s weight in air with its weight in a liquid, using Archimedes’ principle.
