Picking From the Six Sizes
The 25 ml and 50 ml beakers take small portions of a reagent or sample, the 100 ml and 250 ml sizes cover routine mixing and dissolving, and the 500 ml and 1000 ml beakers hold larger volumes of solution or rinse water. Choosing a beaker well above the volume in use leaves room to stir without splashing.
Pouring, Mixing and Heating
The spout lets a liquid be poured in a controlled stream, down a glass rod if needed, and the flat base keeps the beaker steady while it is stirred. Because the borosilicate glass is fire resistant, the beaker can be warmed standing on a wire gauze over a burner; let it cool before handling. The permanent graduations give a quick check of the volume while working.
