What Is the Cauliflower Cloning Kit Used For?
The white curd of a cauliflower is packed with tiny shoot meristems. When small pieces of curd are placed on a culture medium, these meristems grow into shoots and then rooted plantlets that are clones of the parent plant. The kit lets a class carry out this micropropagation themselves, see that new plants can be raised from tiny pieces of tissue, and discuss why growers use tissue culture to multiply plants quickly. Because no special facilities are needed, it fits an ordinary school lab: keep the bench and tools clean, keep culture vessels closed, and place them in a light, warm spot while the plantlets develop over the following weeks. Once the plantlets are established they can be moved into compost and grown on.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long before the cauliflower plantlets appear?
Plantlets should be visible in 6–8 weeks. They can then be transplanted into compost and grown on.
Does the kit need a sterile laminar-flow cabinet or other special facilities?
No special facilities are required; the listing describes the process as relatively quick and simple. Normal clean working on a disinfected bench is still good practice for any tissue culture.
How many students can use one kit?
One kit is sufficient for up to 10 students or groups and is suitable for GCSE and higher level. For a larger class, order one kit per ten groups; the Carrot Cloning Kit is listed for up to 30 students or groups.
Do the culture media have a limited shelf life?
Shelf life depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions; ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted. Plan the practical soon after delivery.
What is the minimum order and who manufactures the kit?
The minimum order is 10 kits, usually dispatched within 7–10 working days after visual inspection. Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes the kit at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a biology lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The cloning kit is assembled at JLab’s own works rather than bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it direct, and every kit is checked before it is packed. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Thailand in Southeast Asia, Sudan in North Africa, Afghanistan in South Asia, Eswatini in Southern Africa and Taiwan in East Asia. See the JLab lab tenders page for tender buying.
