What Is a Contactor Used For?
A contactor is an electrically operated switch for power circuits. When its coil is energised the normally open contacts close and the normally closed contact opens; when the coil supply is removed, a spring returns them. The overload element trips if the load draws too much current for too long, which protects the connected motor or load from overheating.
