Discharger Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-ELA-5305
Jlab Export is a leading Discharger Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Discharger (code EL-ELA-5305) is an electrostatics tool for safely discharging charged objects, such as a charged Leyden jar or conductor, during physics experiments. Small brass spheres are attached to an insulated handle, and the overall length is about 30 cm, which keeps the user’s hand well away from the charged parts. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with the Other JLab Discharger?
| Model | Spheres | Handle and arms | Overall length |
|---|---|---|---|
| This discharger (EL-ELA-5305) | Small brass spheres | Insulated handle | Approx. 30 cm |
| Discharger (curved-arm model) | Two small brass-plated spheres | Curved arms jointed with an ebonite insulating handle | Approx. 250 mm |
Choose this model when you want the longer reach; the curved-arm model is the shorter of the two and its own listing names ebonite as the handle material.
What Is the Discharger Used For?
A charged Leyden jar or the conductors of an electrostatic machine can give an unpleasant shock. The discharger removes that charge from a safe distance: touch one sphere to one conductor, for example the outer coating of a Leyden jar, and bring the other sphere towards the second conductor or knob; the charge passes across, often with a visible spark. It is standard physics lab equipment for school and class 12 work on static electricity and capacitors.
Rounded spheres are used because charge leaks away less readily from smooth curved surfaces than from sharp points. Hold it only by the insulated handle and store it dry so the handle stays a good insulator.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Model — this discharger or the curved-arm version.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Matching apparatus, such as a Leyden jar (listed below).
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a discharger used for?
It removes the charge from charged objects in electrostatics experiments, such as a Leyden jar or the conductors of an electrostatic machine, while the user holds it by an insulated handle.
How is it different from the curved-arm discharger?
The curved-arm model is listed with two brass-plated spheres on curved arms, an ebonite handle and an overall length of about 250 mm. This model is longer and is described with brass spheres on an insulated handle.
Who manufactures this discharger?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and general science apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and working from Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The discharger is produced at JLab’s own works, not bought in from a trader, so schools, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Congo in Central Africa, Turkmenistan in Central Asia, Canada in North America, Egypt in North Africa and Peru in South America.
Electrostatics Apparatus
- Leyden Jar — a plastic vessel with removable inner and outer metal coatings for storing charge.
- Gold Leaf Electroscope — for detecting static electricity.
- Van de Graaff Generator — builds up a high voltage on a hollow metal dome.
- Wimshurst Machine — an electrostatic generator with contra-rotating discs and a spark gap.
