What Is the Test Tube Stand Used For?
A stand keeps test tubes upright while reagents are added, while a reaction develops and while a hot tube cools. The mixed hole sizes let one stand serve a whole bench: the four 16 mm holes take ordinary test tubes such as JLab’s 15 x 150 mm tubes, and the two 25 mm holes take wider tubes. The hemispherical wells in the base cradle the round bottom of each tube so it cannot slide about, and because the rack is held only by its two end columns, students can see every tube from the side when they compare colour changes in food tests or enzyme experiments.
After washing, tubes go mouth-down on the six pins so water drains out and dust stays out. As the stand is autoclavable, it can be sterilised with tubes used for microbiology work. Plastic is not for hot plates or open flames, so let a tube cool for a moment in the holder before setting a very hot one down, and wipe up spilled reagents promptly.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Hole layout — this mixed layout (two 25 mm and four 16 mm holes) or the option with all holes for 25 mm tubes.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 stands; many schools order one per student group.
- Test tubes, holders and cleaning brushes — list them in the same enquiry so each bench is complete.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size tubes does this test tube stand hold?
Two holes take 25 mm diameter tubes and four holes take 16 mm diameter tubes. A version with all holes for 25 mm tubes is also offered.
What are the six pins for?
They are vertical drying pins. Washed tubes are placed upside down on them to drain and dry.
Can the stand be autoclaved?
Yes, it is listed as autoclavable, so it can be sterilised alongside tubes used for culture work. Keep it away from flames and hot plates.
Are test tubes included?
No. The listing covers the stand only; JLab’s glass test tubes and holders are separate items, linked below.
Who manufactures this test tube stand?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of lab plasticware and educational science equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The stand is produced for JLab’s own range rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct and repeat orders come from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Estonia in Northern Europe, Canada in North America, Zambia in East Africa, Japan in East Asia and Moldova in Eastern Europe, for instance. Tender buyers can begin at the lab tenders page.
