Taking an Accurate Reading
Immerse the bulb fully in the liquid without letting it touch the walls or bottom of the vessel, stir gently, and wait until the column stops moving. Read with the eye level with the top of the column to avoid parallax. Never take the thermometer above 110 °C, and let it cool in air before rinsing, since a sudden change of temperature can crack the glass.
