Seeing the End Point
Place the tile on the base of the burette stand directly below the burette tip and stand the conical flask on it. A faint pink from phenolphthalein, or the change in methyl orange, is easier to judge against a white glaze than against a dark bench top, so a run is less likely to overshoot. Spilled indicator rinses off the glazed face easily after each titration.
