How Does It Compare with Other JLab Elbow Models?
| Model | Structures shown | Movements and other features |
|---|---|---|
| This model (EL-HM-13365, JL241) | Distal humerus, proximal ulna and radius; ulnar collateral, radial collateral and annular ligaments | Flexion/extension and pronation/supination; muscle origins (red) and insertions (blue); right elbow; display base |
| Elbow Joint (medical PVC, with articular cartilage) | Distal humerus, proximal radius and ulna; smooth articular cartilage; surrounding ligaments | Life size; medical PVC |
| Elbow Joint Model | Elbow with flexible artificial ligaments | Flexion, extension and internal and external rotation of the radius; supplied with a stand |
| Functional Elbow Joint Life Size | Biceps and triceps in flexible material, with their origins and insertions | Flexion and extension; antagonist relationship of the two muscles; on a base |
Choose the JL241 elbow when the collateral and annular ligaments and the muscle attachment points should be taught on one model that also represents forearm rotation. The other Elbow Joint shows the smooth articular cartilage, the Elbow Joint Model comes on a stand with flexible artificial ligaments, and the Functional Elbow Joint Life Size models the biceps and triceps in flexible material to show how the pair works against each other.
What Is the Elbow Joint Model Used For?
Two kinds of movement meet at the elbow. Bending and straightening happen at the hinge between the humerus and the ulna, while pronation and supination turn the forearm so the palm faces down or up: the head of the radius rotates inside the annular ligament, which holds it against the ulna. The ulnar collateral ligament on the inner side and the radial collateral ligament on the outer side keep the hinge stable from side to side. On this model students can follow each of these structures and match the red and blue markings to the muscles that move the forearm.
It is used for the upper limb in anatomy teaching at medical, nursing and physiotherapy colleges, and as an example of a hinge joint in the class 11 biology chapter on locomotion and movement. The labelling guide helps with naming the parts.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Model — quote JL241 or the product code, as JLab lists more than one elbow joint.
- Quantity — the number of models for each anatomy room or physiotherapy lab.
- Other joint models — the shoulder, knee or elbow models linked on this page can be quoted on the same enquiry.
- Delivery — the destination city or port, and the delivery terms for an export order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which ligaments does the elbow model show?
The ulnar collateral ligament on the medial side, the radial collateral ligament on the lateral side and the annular ligament of the radius, made of flexible rubber or silicone.
Is it a left or a right elbow?
It is a right elbow joint.
How are the muscle attachments shown?
Points of origin are painted red and points of insertion blue, in non-toxic paint.
What comes with it?
The elbow joint model with its ligaments, an instruction manual and labelling guide, a display base and a protective storage box.
How does it differ from the other Elbow Joint model?
Both are life-size elbows showing the lower humerus and the upper radius and ulna with ligaments. JL241 names the collateral and annular ligaments, marks the muscle attachment points and represents pronation and supination; the other model shows the smooth articular cartilage and is made of medical PVC.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of models, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, and any packing, labelling or tender reference.
Who manufactures the JL241 Elbow Joint?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it under the JLab brand at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of anatomical teaching models and laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This elbow model is made in the company’s own works and is not bought in from a trader, so colleges, dealers and importers order it from the maker, and every model is visually checked before it leaves. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Gabon in Central Africa, Yemen in the Middle East, Austria in Western Europe, Colombia in South America and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Details for tender purchases are on the JLab lab tenders page.
