Calibrating the Divisions
A reticule division has no fixed real length: its value depends on the objective in use. Put a stage micrometer on the stage, line up the two scales, count how many reticule divisions cover a known micrometer distance and work out what one division equals. Repeat for each objective and keep the values with the microscope.
