Conical Body Versus the Buchner Pattern
In the conical form the body narrows towards the cone, so the solid collects on a smaller disc, while the Buchner pattern carries a wide flat disc for bigger batches. The 20 mm disc takes the smallest samples and the 40 mm disc gives the most filtering area. The cone seats in a matching ground socket, so the filter can stand in a flask while it drains.
