How Does It Compare with Other JLab pH Test Papers?
| Item | Pack | Reading |
|---|---|---|
| This pH Indicator Paper (EL-SLE-4674) | 200 leaves | pH colour chart supplied; range not stated |
| pH paper strip pH 1-14 | Packs of 100 leaves | Universal indicator paper, pH 1–14, with colour chart |
| Universal pH Paper | Plastic box of 100 leaves | Colour key on the vial label |
| Litmus Paper | 5 books of 20 leaves | Red or blue litmus: shows acidic or alkaline only, not a pH value |
Choose this paper when you want a larger 200-leaf pack for class pH testing. Choose the pH 1–14 strips when the full scale must be stated on the order, and litmus paper when students only need to tell acids from alkalis.
What Is pH Indicator Paper Used For?
pH paper gives a quick estimate of how acidic or alkaline a sample is. In class 10 science practicals students use pH paper to find the pH of samples such as dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sodium hydroxide, dilute ethanoic acid, lemon juice, water and sodium bicarbonate solution, and in earlier classes it introduces acids, bases and neutral substances. College labs, school biology projects and agriculture students use it to check soil extracts, water samples and buffer solutions before a more exact reading with a pH meter.
To test, place a drop of the sample on a leaf with a clean glass rod, or dip a small strip briefly, and compare the colour with the chart straight away in good light. Do not dip a whole booklet into the sample, handle leaves with dry fingers, and keep the pack closed and away from acid or ammonia fumes, which can change the colour of unused paper.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Number of packs — each unit is a pack of 200 leaves with a colour chart; the minimum order is 10 units.
- pH range — if your syllabus or tender names a range, include it so JLab can confirm the colour chart matches.
- Expiry date — ask for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted.
- Related items — litmus paper, universal indicator solution or a pH meter can go in the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many leaves are in a pack?
Each pack holds 200 leaves and comes with a pH colour chart for reading the result.
What pH range does it cover?
The listing does not state the range. Ask JLab for the range printed on the colour chart, or choose the pH 1–14 strips if your syllabus asks for the full scale.
How is pH paper different from litmus paper?
Litmus only shows whether a sample is acidic (blue turns red) or alkaline (red turns blue). pH indicator paper is matched against a colour chart, so it gives an approximate pH value as well.
Is pH paper as accurate as a pH meter?
No. Paper gives an approximate reading by colour matching, which is enough for school practicals and quick checks; a calibrated pH meter is used when a precise value is needed.
How long does the paper last?
Shelf life depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions; ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted. Keep the pack sealed, dry and away from fumes.
What should I send for an export quotation?
Send the number of packs, the destination country and port or city, your preferred delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the order is for a tender.
Who manufactures this pH paper?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of chemistry lab consumables and school science equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The pH indicator paper is packed at JLab’s own works and not bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, every pack is visually checked before dispatch, and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Taiwan in East Asia, Niger in West Africa, Vanuatu in Oceania, Slovenia in Southern Europe and Jamaica in Central America and the Caribbean. Buyers working to a tender can see the JLab lab tenders page.
