Fitting a Tube Through the 5 mm Hole
Use glass tubing about as wide as the hole, its cut end fire-polished and wetted with water or glycerol. Wrap a cloth round the tube, hold it close to the stopper and work it in with a gentle twist, never by force, since a snapped tube can cut the hand. For another tube size, bore a solid stopper with a cork borer the same size as the tube, as rubber closes up slightly after boring.
