How Does It Compare with Other JLab Water Lesson Kits?
| Kit | What it tests | Reagent format | Class size | Lesson focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| This kit (EL-EE-7237) | pH, hardness, alkalinity, fluoride, chlorine | Fifty test strips per test | 40 students | Drinking water: sources, the body’s use of water, supply to homes |
| Testing Ponds and Streams Kit | Alkalinity, phosphates, pH, nitrates/nitrite | Fifty test strips per test | 40 students | Water cycle, watersheds, acid rain, non-point sources of pollution |
| Dissolved Oxygen Test Kit | Dissolved oxygen | Fifty tablets for colour reaction tests | 40 students | Dissolved oxygen as an indicator of water quality |
Pick this kit when the lesson is about the water people drink; choose the ponds and streams kit for surface-water pollution, or the dissolved oxygen kit when the focus is the health of a river or pond.
What Is the Testing Drinking Water Kit Used For?
The kit turns the tap, the school water cooler and the hand pump into subjects for investigation. Students collect samples, dip a strip for each test and read the result by comparing the colour that develops with the reference colours, then discuss what the numbers mean: pH shows how acidic or alkaline the water is, hardness comes mainly from dissolved calcium and magnesium salts, chlorine is added to piped supplies to disinfect them, and fluoride occurs naturally in some groundwater. Set against the lesson on how water travels from its source to our homes, the tests make a practical session for EVS and middle-school science, reinforce the pH scale taught in class 10 chemistry, and suit environmental science projects and school eco-clubs.
This is a teaching kit. Results are useful for learning and for spotting differences between sources, but any official check on drinking water should go to a recognised water-testing laboratory. Keep unused strips closed in their containers, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Number of kits — one kit is planned for a class of 40 students; the minimum order is 10 kits.
- Expiry date — ask for the batch expiry so strips are used while fresh.
- Companion kits — add the ponds and streams or dissolved oxygen kits for a complete water-quality unit.
- Delivery details — destination city or port and any packing or labelling instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can this kit test?
Five drinking-water parameters: pH, hardness, alkalinity, fluoride and chlorine, each with its own test strips.
How many tests does one kit allow?
Fifty strips are supplied for each of the five tests, and the kit is designed for a class size of 40 students.
Can the results be used to certify water as safe to drink?
No. It is a classroom kit for teaching water science; official drinking-water assessment should be done by a recognised testing laboratory.
What is the shelf life of the test strips?
Shelf life depends on the chemical, its grade and storage conditions; ask us for the expiry date of the batch you are quoted.
How is it different from the Testing Ponds and Streams Kit?
This kit tests drinking-water parameters, including hardness, fluoride and chlorine. The ponds and streams kit tests alkalinity, phosphates, pH and nitrates/nitrite and is aimed at surface water and pollution topics.
What should an export quotation request include?
Quantity, destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling requirements, and any tender reference.
Who manufactures this kit?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, known as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of environmental science kits and school laboratory equipment, incorporated in 2017 and situated on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The kit is put together at JLab’s own works, not sourced through a trader, so schools, colleges, distributors and importers buy direct from the manufacturer; every kit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the same company. JLab exports worldwide and can deliver to buyers in all regions — for example Hong Kong in East Asia, Ghana in West Africa, Canada in North America, Nepal in South Asia and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. Buyers working to a tender can see the JLab lab tenders page.
