What Is the Transparent Figure Set Used For?
Lines that run through the inside of a solid are hard to picture on paper. Because these figures are transparent, a wire threaded between two vertices of the cube shows a diagonal through the solid itself rather than across one face, and a wire through the hole at the top of the cone lets the teacher set the vertical height beside the slant height that runs along the curved surface; the slant height is the longer of the two, as it is the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed by the height and the base radius.
