Phosphate Tests
Warmed with nitric acid and ammonium molybdate, the solution gives a yellow precipitate of ammonium phosphomolybdate. With magnesia mixture, a solution of magnesium sulphate, ammonium chloride and ammonia, it gives a white crystalline precipitate of magnesium ammonium phosphate.
Ammonium Test
Warmed with sodium hydroxide solution, the salt gives off ammonia, which turns moist red litmus blue and gives a brown colour with Nessler’s reagent.
