Filling, Reading and Stopcock Care
Clamp the burette upright, rinse it with a little of the titrant and fill to just above the top mark, then open the key briefly so the tip fills without an air bubble. Take the first reading at the bottom of the meniscus with your eye level with it, run titrant into the swirled flask, and read again at the end point; the volume used is the difference between the two readings.
A glass key ground into a glass barrel needs a light smear of stopcock grease to turn freely. Clean the key and barrel after use and store the key loosened, so it cannot seize in place.
