Seating a Crucible in the Triangle
Lay the triangle on the tripod with its twisted wire ends flat on the top, then lower the crucible so it is held by the three clay pipes and not by the bare wire. The clay keeps the crucible clear of the metal while the flame plays on its base, which suits ignition, ashing and heating a solid to constant mass. Lift the crucible with tongs, and let the triangle cool before moving it; a pipe that has cracked should not be used again.
