Jlab Export is a leading Combustion Tube Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Combustion Tube (code EL-SLE-4766) is a hard glass tube, 12 x 1 inch, supplied with two rubber corks that each have one hole, used for heating samples in a stream of gas inside a tube furnace. It is designed for testing the carbon in iron slag and suits other strong-heating work in college chemistry and metallurgy labs, and every tube is pressure-tested so that none has a weak spot. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is a Combustion Tube Used For?
In a combustion test for carbon, a weighed sample is placed in a porcelain boat inside the tube, the tube is heated in a tube furnace, and oxygen is passed through it; carbon in the sample burns to carbon dioxide, which the gas stream carries out of the tube to be absorbed and measured. The two bored rubber corks connect the tube to the gas supply at one end and to the absorption train at the other through short glass tubes. The same arrangement serves teaching experiments in which a solid is heated in a stream of gas, such as reducing copper oxide. Hard glass is used because it withstands much stronger heating than ordinary soda glass.
Keep the rubber corks outside the heated zone, bring the furnace up to temperature gradually, let the tube cool before removing the corks or sample, and look for cracks or chips before every run.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units (tubes, each with two corks).
- Furnace conditions — tell JLab your furnace temperature and bore so it can confirm the tube suits them.
- Boats and spare corks — add porcelain boats, extra bored corks or a cork borer to the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this combustion tube used for?
It is designed for tube-furnace work, in particular testing the carbon in iron slag, where a sample is burned in a gas stream inside the tube. It can also be used for other experiments that heat a solid in a stream of gas.
What size is the tube?
It is listed as 12 x 1 inch: 12 inches long and 1 inch across, roughly 305 mm by 25.4 mm.
What comes with the tube?
Two rubber corks, each with one hole, for connecting the gas inlet and outlet. Porcelain boats and connecting tubes are separate items.
Are the tubes tested before dispatch?
Yes. Every tube is pressure-tested to make sure it has no weak spot, and each one is visually inspected before it is packed.
What temperature can it withstand?
The listing does not give a maximum temperature. Hard glass tolerates strong heating, but send your furnace temperature with the enquiry so JLab can confirm suitability, and keep the rubber corks out of the hot zone.
Who manufactures this combustion tube?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a laboratory glassware and chemistry lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The combustion tubes are made and pressure-tested at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so colleges, schools, dealers and importers buy factory-direct, and repeat orders and spare corks are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Georgia in Eastern Europe, the USA in North America, Fiji in Oceania, the UAE in the Middle East and Indonesia in Southeast Asia. For tender purchases see the JLab lab tenders page.
Combustion Accessories
- Porcelain Boat — an unglazed porcelain combustion boat that carries the sample inside the tube.
- Rubber Corks (with One Hole) — spare bored stoppers for the tube ends.
- Cork Borer (Brass) — for boring your own corks to match connecting tubes.
- Glass Combustion Tube — a combustion tube from JLab’s micro-scale chemistry range.
