What Are Comparative Fraction Strips Used For?
Fraction strips make equivalence and ordering visible. Each strip stands for one whole, so students can set two quarters against one half, or three sixths against one half, and see that they cover the same length; comparing the fifths strip with the sixths strip shows that more parts make each part smaller. The sixteenths strip carries the work on to finer fractions, and the decimals strip connects fraction work with decimal notation. In Indian schools the set fits the fractions and decimals chapters of classes 5 to 7, and it also serves revision work with older students.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of sets, for example one per pair or small group of students.
- Other fraction models — fraction tiles, squares or circles are separate items and can be quoted on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which fractions do the strips show?
A whole, halves, thirds, quarters, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths, twelfths and sixteenths, plus a strip for decimals — eleven strips in all.
Which classes is the set meant for?
Grade 5 and up. That covers the fraction and decimal topics of classes 5 to 7 and revision work in higher classes.
How is it different from the Fraction Bar?
The Fraction Bar is a set of solid plastic fraction tiles in a tray, from a whole to twelfths, with percentages on the back. These laminated strips also show sixteenths and decimals.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The number of sets, the destination country and port or city, your delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the order is for a tender.
Who manufactures Comparative Fraction Strips?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maths lab and science education equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. These fraction strips are produced at JLab’s own works, not resold from a trader, so schools, dealers and importers buy factory-direct and repeat orders come straight from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Mauritius in East Africa, Tunisia in North Africa, Colombia in South America, Turkmenistan in Central Asia and Cameroon in Central Africa. Tender buyers will find details on the JLab lab tenders page.
Other Fraction Models
- Fraction Bar — solid plastic fraction tiles in a tray, from a whole to twelfths, with percentages on the back.
