What Is the Delivery Training Model Used For?
In a normal birth the baby’s head passes through the pelvis in a set sequence of movements — engagement, descent, flexion, internal rotation, extension, restitution and external rotation — and students must understand that sequence before they can follow a real labour. Working in a life-size pelvic cavity with its main structures in place, a tutor can take a midwifery class through each stage of the delivery.
