From Lifeboats to Field Trips
The drum form was first designed for lifeboats, and the same compass can be taken on hunting, camping and hiking trips. To take a direction, hold it level and let the needle come to rest before reading. Keep knives, steel tools and magnets away while reading, as they pull the needle off magnetic north.
