Working at High Temperature
Being only 20 mm deep, the dish spreads a small volume thinly, which shortens evaporation and suits drying a precipitate or ashing a residue in a furnace up to the 1150 °C limit. The flat bottom sits steady on a gauze or furnace floor. Raise and lower the temperature gradually, set the hot dish down on a ceramic tile rather than a cold or wet bench, and lift it with crucible tongs at the lip.
