Foucault Pendulum Apparatus For Earth Science Lab Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-GM-10668
Jlab Export is a leading Foucault Pendulum Apparatus For Earth Science Lab Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Foucault Pendulum Apparatus For Earth Science Lab (code EL-GM-10668) is a small-scale Foucault pendulum assembly used to measure the Earth’s rotation in earth science, geography and physics labs. An energy compensation mechanism keeps the pendulum swinging continuously, and a special 360° scale lets students read how far the plane of swing turns. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Foucault Pendulum Apparatus Used For?
A freely swinging pendulum keeps swinging in the same plane, but the Earth turns beneath it, so over time the plane of swing appears to rotate. Foucault’s pendulum was one of the first direct demonstrations that the Earth spins on its axis. The rate of turning depends on latitude: at the poles the plane would make a full turn in one sidereal day, at the equator it would not turn at all, and in between the rate is proportional to the sine of the latitude. An ordinary pendulum soon dies away through friction and air resistance; the energy compensation mechanism in this apparatus replaces the lost energy so the swing can be followed for long enough to see the change. Students read the angle on the 360° scale at regular intervals and compare the rate they measure with the value predicted for their own latitude.
The apparatus suits Earth’s rotation topics in senior-school geography and physics and in college earth science and physics labs. Set it up on a level, steady surface away from draughts and vibration, and start the swing gently so that the pendulum moves in a flat plane rather than an ellipse.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the apparatus measure?
The Earth’s rotation, on a small scale. As the Earth turns, the plane of the pendulum’s swing appears to rotate, and the change is read on the 360° scale.
Why does it have an energy compensation mechanism?
Without it the swing would fade before any turning could be seen. The mechanism keeps the pendulum operating continuously, so readings can be taken over a long period.
Will the plane of swing turn at the same rate everywhere?
No. The rate depends on latitude — fastest near the poles and zero at the equator — so the result in a lab close to the equator will be very small.
What power supply does it need?
The listing does not state the power supply for the compensation mechanism. Give your mains voltage and plug type in the enquiry so that JLab can confirm it in the quotation.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an educational science and earth science equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Its corporate identity number is CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123, and it holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. The Foucault pendulum apparatus is made at JLab’s own works and not bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order factory-direct, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and can supply buyers in every region — Uzbekistan in Central Asia, Chile in South America, South Korea in East Asia, Algeria in North Africa and Ivory Coast in West Africa are examples. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
