Uses on the Bench
Lengths of open tube serve as delivery tubes for gases, connectors between pieces of rubber tubing and guides for liquid in simple apparatus. Borosilicate glass can be softened in a hot flame and bent, so a straight tube can be shaped into a bend or a jet as an experiment needs. When fitting one into a bored stopper, wet the glass and push with a twisting motion, holding the tube close to the stopper.
