LED Corded/Cordless Beginner Monocular Microscope (code EL-M-8045) is a cast-metal student compound microscope with LED illumination built into the base and achromatic 4X, 10X and 40XR objectives. Corded or Cordless: Choosing a Version
The corded version plugs in through a three-wire grounded cord and stays on a fixed bench. The cordless version carries 9V rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries: a full charge takes 8 hours through the plug-in adapter and gives up to 50 hours of continuous light, so the microscope can be moved round a class without trailing leads. State which version you need when ordering.
Diaphragm and Objectives
The rotating disc diaphragm has six holes of different sizes; turning it to a smaller hole narrows the light reaching the slide and adds contrast to a pale specimen. The objectives are colour-coded for quick identification and parcentred, so a specimen centred at low power stays near the middle of the field after the nosepiece clicks round. The pointer in the eyepiece lets a teacher show a student the exact feature to look at.
