Physical Balance (7-Stone)

Product Code : EL-MI-2130
Jlab Export is a leading Physical Balance (7-Stone) Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Physical Balance (7-Stone) (code EL-MI-2130) is a general-purpose beam balance with a 200 g capacity and 2 mg sensitivity, used for weighing and upthrust experiments in school and college physics labs. It has 7-stone agate knife edges and agate bearings, the hangers carry detachable 100 mm stainless steel pans on double hooks, and the whole balance sits in a teak wood case with panel doors. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Beam Balances?

ModelCapacitySensitivityPans and case (as listed)
This balance (EL-MI-2130)200 g2 mgStainless steel, 100 mm; double-hook hangers; teak case with panel doors
Physical Balance (3-Stone)200 g5 mgSame as this model but with 3-stone agate knife edges; supplied without weights
Chemical Balance200 g0.2 mgInverse stainless steel, 70 mm; beam with rider scale; teak case with front slider and panel doors; supplied without weights

Choose the 7-stone model when you want 2 mg sensitivity for physics practicals; the 3-stone version is the lower-sensitivity option with the same capacity and case, and the chemical balance suits finer chemistry weighings to 0.2 mg.

What Is the Physical Balance Used For?

A physical balance compares the mass of an object with known weights placed in the opposite pan. In school and college physics it is used to find mass and density and, thanks to the double hooks on the hangers, for upthrust experiments: a solid is hung from the hook below a pan and weighed first in air and then immersed in water, and the loss in weight gives the buoyant force behind Archimedes’ principle. These experiments appear in class 9 and class 11 practicals, and the balance is also used for general weighing in chemistry and biology labs where a sensitivity of 2 mg is sufficient.

Set the balance on a firm bench, level the base with the levelling screw and check that the empty pans balance. Put the object in one pan, add weights to the other with forceps, and close the panel doors before the final reading so that air currents do not disturb the beam. Do not exceed the 200 g capacity, keep the agate knife edges free of dust, and remove the pans and weights before the balance is moved.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Sensitivity — this 2 mg 7-stone model or the 5 mg 3-stone version.
  • Weights — the listing does not include a weight box; add a physical weight box to the enquiry if you need one.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 balances; plan one per practical group plus spares.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the capacity and sensitivity of this balance?
The capacity is 200 g and the sensitivity is 2 mg. The knife edges and bearings are agate.

What does “7-stone” mean?
It is the number of agate stones listed for the knife edges, on which the beam and pans pivot: seven on this model and three on the 3-stone version, which is listed with 5 mg sensitivity instead of 2 mg.

Can it be used for upthrust (Archimedes) experiments?
Yes. The hangers have double hooks, so a solid can be suspended below the pan and weighed in air and in water.

Are weights included?
Weights are not listed with this balance, and the 3-stone version is stated to be supplied without them. Order a physical weight box separately; one is linked below.

What are the overall dimensions?
420 x 240 x 380 mm (length x breadth x height), including the teak case.

What information does an export quotation need?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements, and a tender reference if applicable.

Who manufactures the 7-stone physical balance?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a laboratory balance and physics equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The balance is assembled at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, each balance is visually checked before packing, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Brazil in South America, Ireland in Western Europe, Liberia in West Africa, Botswana in Southern Africa and the Dominican Republic in Central America and the Caribbean. Tender details are on the lab tenders page.
