Draining a Vessel by Siphon
Fill the tube with liquid, close both ends with the fingers, put one end under the surface in the upper vessel and release the other end into a container placed lower down. The liquid keeps flowing while the outlet stays below the liquid surface in the upper vessel and the inlet end stays submerged; lift the outlet above that level and the flow stops.
Fitting the Tube
Push the end over a glass tube, nozzle or tap outlet with a slight twist; wetting the glass with water helps it slide on. Cut lengths square with a sharp blade so that each joint seals well.
