Plug Key Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-SLE-4682
Jlab Export is a leading Plug Key Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Plug Key (code EL-SLE-4682) is a circuit key for making and breaking electrical circuits in school and college physics practicals. Its terminals are mounted on a Bakelite base, and an accurately tapered plug fits into brass blocks to close the circuit; pulling the plug out opens it. One-way, two-way, three-way and four-way plug keys are available. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Plug Keys?
| Model | Base | Contacts and versions as listed |
|---|---|---|
| This Plug Key (EL-SLE-4682) | Bakelite | Tapered plug in brass blocks; one, two, three or four way |
| Plug Key | Bakelite | Brass blocks with brass terminals; plugs and lugs lapped for firm locking; one to four way |
| Plug Key One Way | Insulated, plastic moulded | Two brass blocks with socket terminals; tapered plug with an insulating top |
All three open and close a circuit with a tapered plug. Choose this key or the other Bakelite model when you need two-, three- or four-way versions, and the moulded one-way key for a socket-terminal design with an insulated plug top.
What Is a Plug Key Used For?
A plug key is the switch in most school electricity circuits. In class 10 science the Ohm’s law circuit uses a one-way plug key to switch the current on only while readings are taken, and in class 12 physics practicals keys are used in metre bridge, potentiometer and galvanometer circuits. A two-way key lets one common connection be switched between two circuits — for example to bring either of two cells into a potentiometer circuit when comparing their EMFs — and three- and four-way keys extend this to more circuits.
Insert the plug firmly with a slight twist so the tapered surfaces make good contact, and take it out between readings so cells do not run down and wires do not heat up. Keep the plug and blocks clean and dry, and do not leave plugs lying loose on the bench, where they are easily lost.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Version — one way, two way, three way or four way, and how many of each.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; labs often order spare one-way keys for each bench.
- Circuit set — resistance boxes, rheostats and tapping keys can be added to the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a plug key used for?
To make or break an electrical circuit. Inserting the plug joins the brass blocks and closes the circuit; removing it opens the circuit.
Which versions are available?
One-way, two-way, three-way and four-way plug keys are available. State the version and quantity of each in your enquiry.
What is the difference between a one-way and a two-way key?
A one-way key simply switches a single circuit on or off. A two-way key lets a common connection be switched to either of two circuits, which is useful in potentiometer experiments that compare two cells.
What is the base made of?
The terminals are mounted on a Bakelite base, and the tapered plug fits into brass blocks.
What details are needed for an export quotation?
Send the versions and quantity, the destination country and port or city, your preferred delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the order is for a tender.
Who manufactures this plug key?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electricity and physics practical apparatus in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Plug keys are produced at JLab’s own works, not bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy them factory-direct, each key is visually inspected before dispatch, and spare plugs and repeat orders come from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Estonia in Northern Europe, New Zealand in Oceania, Uruguay in South America, Kazakhstan in Central Asia and the USA in North America. Tender buyers can see the JLab lab tenders page.
Other Circuit Components
- Tapping Key — a key for brief contacts in lab circuits.
- Resistance Box Plug Type (Superior Type) — a plug-type resistance box for resistance measurements.
- Rheostats (Nichrome Type) — variable resistors for controlling current.
- Pencil Jockey — the sliding contact for metre bridge and potentiometer wires.
- Plug Key — a Bakelite-base key with lapped brass plugs, one to four way.
