What Is the Round Table Microscope Used For?
This compound microscope serves routine slide work in botany, zoology, microbiology and pathology teaching labs and in general laboratory microscopy. The hinged base lets the body be tilted for comfortable viewing at the bench, and the graduated mechanical stage moves a slide in measured steps so a field can be found again. The Abbe condenser with iris diaphragm controls the cone of light reaching the specimen, which helps contrast and resolution as the objective is changed, and the swing-out filter holder takes colour or daylight filters. With the mirror it works from daylight or a bench lamp; for steady lighting the mirror can be replaced by a substage microscope lamp.
