Silica Basins Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-MI-4901
Jlab Export is a leading Silica Basins Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Silica Basins (code EL-MI-4901) are translucent silica evaporating basins with a round bottom and a pouring spout, offered in six capacities from 20 ml to 200 ml. Chemistry labs in colleges, universities and senior schools use them to evaporate solutions to dryness and to concentrate a solution before crystallising, where a basin that tolerates strong heating is needed. They are made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Evaporating Basins?
| Product | Material (as listed) | Capacities listed | Form |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silica Basins (EL-MI-4901) | Translucent silica | 20, 45, 70, 85, 100 and 200 ml | Round bottom, spout |
| Evaporating Basin | Not stated | 275 ml (110 mm diameter) and 500 ml (140 mm diameter) | Wide, shallow basin |
| Basins | Glass; porcelain | Glass 50 and 100 ml; porcelain 35 ml (pack of 5) | Glass: flat bottom with spout; porcelain: with spout |
Choose the silica basins when you need small capacities in a translucent silica body for strong heating; the Evaporating Basin covers larger volumes, and the Basins listing offers glass and porcelain dishes for general school evaporation.
What Are Silica Basins Used For?
An evaporating basin holds a solution while the solvent is driven off — for example recovering common salt from a salt solution, or concentrating copper sulphate solution until crystals form on cooling, two classic school chemistry practicals. In college and analytical work, silica basins also serve for evaporating acid digests and heating residues. Translucent silica expands very little on heating, so it tolerates heating and cooling better than porcelain, and it resists most acids; it is attacked by hydrofluoric acid, hot phosphoric acid and alkalis, so strongly alkaline solutions are better evaporated in another vessel.
Heat the basin on a wire gauze over a burner, or over a water bath when gentle evaporation is needed to avoid spitting. The round bottom spreads heat evenly, and the spout lets you pour off a concentrated liquid cleanly. Let the basin cool on a heat-resistant mat before washing.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Capacity — 20, 45, 70, 85, 100 or 200 ml, with the quantity of each.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; class sets usually include a few spares for breakage.
- Working temperature — state it if your work needs strong heating, so JLab can confirm the rating.
- Heating accessories — wire gauzes, tripods and water baths can be added to the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What capacities are available?
Six: 20, 45, 70, 85, 100 and 200 ml. All are round-bottomed translucent silica basins with a spout.
What temperature can a silica basin stand?
The listing says it stands up to 1000 but gives no unit. °C is the usual unit for this kind of rating; JLab confirms it in the quotation.
Why choose silica instead of porcelain or glass?
Silica has very low thermal expansion, so it copes with rapid heating and cooling and with strong heat better than porcelain or ordinary glass. Porcelain and glass dishes suit routine school evaporation at lower temperatures.
Can alkaline solutions be evaporated in a silica basin?
It is better not to. Alkalis, hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid attack silica, so use another material for those solutions.
What should an export enquiry include?
The capacities and quantities, the destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements, and a tender reference if applicable.
Who manufactures these silica basins?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — makes them at its works in Ambala, Haryana, and quotes for them directly.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a laboratory ware and equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The basins are produced at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct, every basin is inspected by eye before packing, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example South Korea in East Asia, Albania in Southern Europe, Finland in Northern Europe, Zambia in East Africa and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
Evaporation and Heating Accessories
- Wire Gauze — a square gauze with a filled centre that sits on a tripod under the basin.
- Water Bath Copper — a hemispherical copper water bath with concentric rings for gentle evaporation.
- Quartz Crucible — quartz ware for heating and ashing small samples.
- Evaporating Basin — larger basins for bigger volumes.
