What Is a Quartz Crucible Used For?
Quartz crucibles hold samples while they are heated to constant mass, ignited or ashed in a muffle furnace, or melted. Quartz expands very little when heated, so it copes with rapid heating and cooling better than porcelain, and it resists most acids. It is attacked, however, by hydrofluoric acid, hot phosphoric acid and alkaline melts, so fusions with sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide belong in a different crucible. Handle hot quartz with clean tongs: alkali residues such as fingerprints can cloud the surface at high temperature.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Capacity and form — this listing does not state sizes, so give the volume and shape you need.
- Working temperature — your furnace temperature, so JLab can confirm the crucible suits it.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What temperature can the quartz crucible take?
JLab confirms the maximum working temperature in the quotation. Give your furnace temperature and heating time in the enquiry so the right crucible is offered.
Which chemicals should not be heated in a quartz crucible?
Hydrofluoric acid, hot phosphoric acid and alkaline melts such as sodium carbonate or sodium hydroxide fusions attack quartz. Use another crucible material for that work.
Who manufactures this quartz crucible?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a laboratory apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The crucible comes from JLab’s own works, not a trading house, so laboratories, dealers and importers buy direct from the maker. The company holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise and Importer-Exporter Code 3317504552. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Rwanda in East Africa, Liberia in West Africa, Sudan in North Africa, Denmark in Northern Europe and Belgium in Western Europe.
