Taking a Reading
Immerse the bulb in the liquid and stir gently. The liquid column rises or falls as the temperature changes and comes to rest once the thermometer and the liquid reach thermal equilibrium, that is, the same temperature; read it only then. Keep the eye level with the top of the column to avoid a parallax error, and do not let the bulb rest on the bottom of a heated vessel.
Use it only within its -10 to 120 °C scale. Store it flat or in a rack so that the slim stem is not knocked.
