Verification Clerk Maxwell Reciprocal Theorem

Product Code : EL-SML-10070
Jlab Export is a leading Verification Clerk Maxwell Reciprocal Theorem Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Verification Clerk Maxwell Reciprocal Theorem (code EL-SML-10070) is a beam apparatus for proving Maxwell’s reciprocal theorem by direct dial-gauge readings. A graduated mild steel beam rests on two knife edges 70 cm apart, with a 30 cm overhang on one side, so load and reading points can be swapped along the span and on the overhang. This reciprocal-theorem beam set is made by JLab in Ambala, India.

What the Theorem States and How It Is Checked

For a linearly elastic structure, the deflection at point A caused by a load W at point B equals the deflection at B caused by the same load W at A. On this apparatus a weight is hung at one graduation and the dial gauge reads the deflection at a second graduation; the two positions are then interchanged and the new reading is compared with the first. Pairs can be taken with both points between the supports, or with one point on the overhang, which rises when the load sits between the knife edges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the theorem still hold when one point is on the overhang?
Yes. It holds for any two points on a linearly elastic beam, so a load on the overhang and a reading in the span give the same deflection as the reverse arrangement, sign included.

What keeps the paired readings in agreement?
The theorem assumes small elastic deflections. Keeping the weights low enough for the steel to stay elastic, and seating the beam squarely on both knife edges, keeps each pair of dial-gauge readings close.
