What Is Wire Gauze Used For?
A beaker or flask does not sit securely on an open ring, and a flame touching one small spot of glass heats it unevenly. The gauze gives the vessel a flat base on the ring, and the metal mesh spreads the heat of the burner across the bottom of the vessel, so the contents warm more evenly. It is used in school chemistry and biology practicals that involve boiling, warming or evaporating a liquid over a Bunsen burner, and on college and research lab benches.
What to Specify When Ordering

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is wire gauze placed during heating?
On the support ring attached to a ring stand, between the Bunsen burner and the beaker or flask, which rests on the gauze while it is heated.
Why is this item sometimes called a wire gauge?
“Wire gauge” is a common misspelling of wire gauze. This product is the metal mesh sheet used for heating; a wire gauge in the strict sense is a tool for measuring the thickness of wire.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The quantity, the destination country and port or city, your preferred delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if the order is for a tender.
Who manufactures this wire gauze?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of laboratory supplies and educational lab equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This gauze comes from JLab’s own works rather than a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it direct from the maker and repeat orders are handled by the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for instance Taiwan in East Asia, Hungary in Eastern Europe, Fiji in Oceania, El Salvador in Central America and the Caribbean and Tajikistan in Central Asia. For tender purchases see the JLab lab tenders page.
