Choose this nickel-plated burner when you want a rotating air collar and a stated 140 mm height for planning tripod clearance; pick the gas-regulator model if students should adjust the gas at the burner, or the economy model for routine bench heating.

What Is the Bunsen Burner Used For?

The Bunsen burner is the standard heat source of the school chemistry lab. Students use it to heat test tubes and beakers on a tripod stand and wire gauze, to carry out flame tests for metal ions during class 11 and class 12 salt analysis, to bend and draw out glass tubing, and in microbiology to flame an inoculating loop until it glows before each transfer. With the air holes closed the flame is yellow, luminous and cooler, which makes it easy to see when the burner is idle; opening them gives the hot, blue, non-luminous flame used for heating.

Connect the burner to the gas tap with sound rubber tubing and check the tubing for cracks before each class. Light it with the air regulator closed, then open the regulator to adjust the flame, never leave a lit burner unattended, and keep hair and loose sleeves tied back. Turn the gas off at the tap after use.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Gas type — state LPG or natural gas so the jet is matched to your supply.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 burners; schools usually plan one per student pair.
  • Bench accessories — rubber tubing, tripod stands and wire gauzes are separate items and can share one enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tall is this Bunsen burner?
It is 140 mm high, which helps when checking that it fits under your tripod stands with room for the flame.

What does the rotatable air regulator do?
Turning it opens or closes the air holes at the foot of the tube. More air gives a hotter blue flame for heating; closed holes give a yellow, luminous safety flame.

Does it work with LPG or natural gas?
The listing does not state the gas type. Tell JLab which gas your laboratory uses so the burner is supplied to match.

Is rubber tubing included?
No tubing is listed with the burner. JLab lists rubber pipe for Bunsen burners separately, linked below.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, your gas type, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling needs, and the tender reference if one applies.

Who manufactures this Bunsen burner?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of chemistry lab apparatus and school science equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The burner is produced at JLab’s own works and not bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy straight from the maker; each burner is checked by eye before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled directly. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Panama in Central America and the Caribbean, Cambodia in Southeast Asia, the Netherlands in Western Europe, Romania in Eastern Europe and Tajikistan in Central Asia. For tenders, see the JLab lab tenders page.
