Setting the Voltage and the Current Limit
The ten-turn potentiometer spreads the 10–300 V span over ten full revolutions of the knob, so each revolution covers only about a tenth of the range and a value can be set closely even at high voltage. Set the current limit before connecting the load. While the load draws less than that limit, the supply holds the set voltage (CV); if the load tries to draw more, it changes over to constant current (CC) and lowers the voltage to keep the current at the limit.
Floating Output and Separate Meters
A floating output is tied to mains earth at neither terminal, so either the negative or the positive terminal can be connected to the reference point of the circuit under test. The two 3-digit displays show the instantaneous voltage and current side by side, so a fall in voltage with the current sitting at the limit shows at once that the supply has gone into CC. Low residual ripple and noise keep the DC output clean for analog as well as digital circuits.
