What Is the Airway Intubation Simulator Used For?
Tracheal intubation passes a tube through the mouth or nose into the windpipe to secure the airway, and it is a skill that trainees must practise before they perform it on patients. Two typical errors are placing the tube in the oesophagus, which sends air into the stomach instead of the lungs, and levering the laryngoscope against the upper teeth. The simulator gives a warning for both, as well as for other wrong operation, so the trainee gets immediate feedback while the instructor watches from the side.
