Burette Stopcocks, PTFE Key, Straight Through (code EL-SCSAS-1658) are borosilicate glass burette taps with a self-lubricating PTFE key in a highly polished barrel, made to a 1:10 taper. Because the key needs no stopcock grease, no grease film can reach the solution or block the burette tip. JLab makes them in Ambala, India, and each one comes complete with a plastic screw-thread retaining device.

Key, Barrel and Retaining Device
The PTFE key turns directly in the polished borosilicate barrel, and PTFE is used here for its resistance to chemical attack. The 1:10 taper of key and barrel gives a close fit that still lets the key turn easily. The plastic screw-thread retaining device holds the key in its barrel, so it is not pushed out while the burette is in use.
Keys are fully interchangeable, so a lost or damaged key can be replaced without changing the barrel.
Glass Key or PTFE Key on a Burette
A glass-key burette stopcock has to be greased and can stick if it is left assembled; the PTFE key avoids both. Where glass is still wanted, a glass-key burette stopcock is made in the 2 mm size.
