Jlab Export is a leading Clinometer Compass Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Clinometer Compass (code EL-MLE-1745) is a hands-on maths lab instrument that students use to measure the angle of elevation or depression of an object, and then apply that angle to work out the height of a building and its distance from where they stand. It is provided in a durable box for storage between practicals. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Clinometer Compass Used For?
An angle of elevation is measured upward from the horizontal to an object above eye level, and an angle of depression is measured downward to an object below it. With one such angle and one known distance, the tangent ratio of a right-angled triangle gives the unknown height or distance. The Clinometer Compass lets a class take that angle from a real building instead of a textbook diagram. It fits the heights and distances work in the “Some Applications of Trigonometry” chapter of class 10 maths and other outdoor maths lab activities.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — for example one per student group measuring outdoors.
- Product code — quote EL-MLE-1745 so the enquiry is matched to this clinometer compass.
- Other angle-measuring items — the theodolite model or sextant below can go on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What angles does the Clinometer Compass measure?
Angles of elevation and depression — the upward or downward angle between the horizontal and the line of sight to an object.
Which maths topic is it used for?
Heights and distances in trigonometry. From the measured angle and a known distance, students calculate the height of a building or how far away it is.
Does it come with a box?
Yes, it is provided in a durable box.
How is it different from the Theodolite Model?
The theodolite model measures both horizontal and vertical angles and has graduated circles on both axes, while the clinometer compass is used for angles of elevation and depression.
Who manufactures this clinometer compass?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its own works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of maths lab and science laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The Clinometer Compass is produced in-house rather than bought from a trader, so schools, dealers and importers order it factory-direct and return to the same manufacturer for repeat batches. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example the Czech Republic in Eastern Europe, Namibia in Southern Africa, Mongolia in East Asia, El Salvador in Central America and the Caribbean, and Madagascar in East Africa. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
Other Angle-Measuring Instruments
- Theodolite Model — measures horizontal and vertical angles on graduated circles.
- Sextant — finds the angle of an object relative to the horizon.
- Clinometer (Trigonometry range) — a boxed clinometer for elevation and depression angles.
- Clinometer Compass, handle type with peep sights — reads a magnetic heading, or an angle of altitude when tilted.
