Dial Type Resistance Box

Product Code : EL-ELA-5461
Jlab Export is a leading Dial Type Resistance Box Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Dial Type Resistance Box (code EL-ELA-5461) is a resistance box in which each dial switches in non-inductively wound coils connected in series, used to set known resistances in physics and electrical measurement practicals. It comes with constantan coils (accuracy within ±0.1%), manganin coils (±0.05%) or, as an economy option, carbon resistors, on a Bakelite panel engraved with each resistance value. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

Choose this box when you want a metal-cased dial box with wire-wound coils and a choice of one to five dials; the teak-cased Constantan & Manganin model is listed with the tightest Grade A figure, and the economical metal-film box suits routine settings at a 1% tolerance.

What Is the Dial Type Resistance Box Used For?

A resistance box puts a known resistance into a circuit. On this box each dial switches in coils in steps of tenths, units, tens or hundreds of ohms, and because the coils are in series the total is the sum of the dial settings. It is standard physics lab equipment for class 12 practicals such as finding an unknown resistance with a meter bridge, potentiometer work, finding the resistance of a galvanometer by the half-deflection method, and converting a galvanometer into an ammeter or voltmeter, and it serves college electrical measurement labs for bridge circuits and meter checks.

The coil material sets the grade. Manganin and constantan both change resistance very little with temperature, which is why they are used for standard resistors; manganin also generates a much smaller thermoelectric voltage against copper, and the manganin version here is listed at the tighter ±0.05% accuracy. Non-inductive winding reduces the inductance of the coils, which helps when the box is used in AC bridge circuits. The carbon-resistor versions are the lower-cost choice for simple teaching circuits.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Coil type — constantan (±0.1%), manganin (±0.05%) or the economy carbon-resistor version.
  • Number of dials and the range of each — tenths, units, tens or hundreds of ohms; the manganin version is offered with one to five dials.
  • Optional dials — a 10000 ohm dial, or a 0.01 ohm dial on the manganin version.
  • Companion apparatus — galvanometers, meter bridges and rheostats are separate items that can be quoted on the same enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the accuracy of this dial type resistance box?
Within ±0.1% with constantan coils and ±0.05% with manganin coils. The economy versions use carbon resistors and are the budget option for basic circuits.

What is the difference between the constantan and manganin versions?
Both use wire coils connected in series. The manganin version is listed at ±0.05% against ±0.1% for constantan, is offered with one to five dials, and can take an optional 0.01 ohm dial.

Which dial values can I order?
Dials of 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 ohms are listed; state whether each dial should cover tenths, units, tens or hundreds. A 10000 ohm dial is available as an option.

Why are the coils wound non-inductively?
Non-inductive winding reduces the coil’s inductance, so the box behaves more like a pure resistance. That matters most in AC bridge measurements; in DC practicals the effect is small.

How does it compare with the Resistance Box Constantan & Manganin?
That model uses eleven-position switches on a Bakelite panel in a polished teak wood box, with Grade A manganin and Grade B constantan accuracies listed separately. This box has a Bakelite panel in a wrinkle-finish metal box and a choice of one to five dials.

Which school experiments use a resistance box?
Class 12 physics practicals with the meter bridge and the potentiometer, the half-deflection method for a galvanometer, and the conversion of a galvanometer into an ammeter or voltmeter use a resistance box to supply known resistances.

What information is needed for an export quotation?
The quantity of each version, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you prefer (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling requirements and, for a tender, its reference number.

Who manufactures this resistance box?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics lab equipment and electrical teaching apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The dial type resistance box is wound and assembled in JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct; every box is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and extra dials are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Lithuania in Northern Europe, Papua New Guinea in Oceania, Benin in West Africa, Tanzania in East Africa and Taiwan in East Asia. For tender purchases, see the JLab lab tenders page.
