Freezing Microtome Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India

Freezing Microtome

Product Code : EL-FM-2331
Jlab Export is a leading Freezing Microtome Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Freezing Microtome (code EL-FM-2331) is an ERMA-type (pattern) section cutter that freezes fresh material on a 35 mm stage with a carbon dioxide freezing attachment, so sections can be cut quickly without wax embedding. It clamps to a table and cuts sections from 5 to 40 microns in 5-micron steps. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Microtomes for Frozen Sections?

ModelFreezingSection range (as listed)Other listed details
This microtome (EL-FM-2331)CO2 freezing attachment, 35 mm stage5–40 microns in 5-micron stepsTable clamp; 25 mm feed excursion; razor, honing plate, oil can and cylinder spanner supplied
Freezing Microtome (second listing)CO2 freezing attachment, 35 mm stage5–40 microns in 5-micron stepsTable clamp; 25 mm feed excursion; also described for textiles, paper, leather, soft plastics, rubber and food products
Cryostat MicrotomeBuilt-in rapid freeze stage in a refrigerated stainless steel cold chamber with compressor0–40 microns in 2-micron stepsBrass and stainless steel microtome; observation window; razor, object holders, honing stone and dust cover supplied

The two freezing microtome listings give the same stage, feed range and excursion, so either can be quoted against the same requirement. Choose a CO2 freezing microtome for occasional frozen sections on an ordinary bench, using a gas cylinder you source locally; the cryostat suits labs that cut frozen sections every day and want finer 2-micron steps inside a refrigerated chamber.

What Is the Freezing Microtome Used For?

A freezing microtome hardens a fresh or fixed specimen by freezing it on the stage instead of embedding it in paraffin wax. Carbon dioxide gas from a cylinder expands through the freezing attachment and chills the stage, the specimen freezes onto it in a few moments, and sections are then cut with the razor at the chosen thickness. Skipping the dehydration and wax steps saves hours, and because the tissue never passes through solvents and hot wax, fats and many enzymes survive — which is why frozen sections are used for fat stains such as Sudan and for enzyme histochemistry. The microtome is used in college and university botany, zoology and histology teaching labs and in research labs studying fresh plant and animal tissue.

Clamp the microtome firmly to the edge of a bench, stand the CO2 cylinder upright and secure it, and connect the attachment with the spanner supplied. Work in a well-ventilated room, release gas in short bursts, and avoid touching the frozen stage or the cold gas outlet with bare skin. Keep the razor edge true on the honing plate, oil the feed with the oil can after use, and dry the stage before storing the instrument.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 microtomes.
  • CO2 supply — the cylinder is not included; tell JLab the cylinder valve type used in your country when you enquire.
  • Spare razors and sharpening items — one 120 mm razor and a honing plate are supplied; extra razors and strops are separate items.
  • Delivery details — for export, state the destination country, port or city and preferred terms such as FOB or CIF.

Frequently Asked Questions

What section thickness does the Freezing Microtome cut?
Sections from 5 to 40 microns, set in steps of 5 microns. The total feed excursion is 25 mm.

Is the carbon dioxide cylinder included?
No. The microtome is supplied with the CO2 freezing attachment and stage and a spanner for connecting it to a cylinder, but the cylinder itself must be sourced locally.

What comes in the box?
The microtome with its table clamp, a 120 mm razor with back and handle, a honing plate, the CO2 freezing attachment and stage, an oil can and a spanner for the cylinder, packed in a cardboard box.

What does “ERMA type” mean?
It describes the design pattern the microtome follows. JLab makes this microtome itself; the name does not mean it is made by, or affiliated with, any other company.

Why cut frozen sections instead of paraffin sections?
Freezing is much quicker than wax embedding and keeps fats and many enzymes that paraffin processing would remove or destroy. Paraffin sections are thinner and show finer detail, so many labs use both methods.

How does it differ from the Cryostat Microtome?
This model freezes the specimen with CO2 gas on an open bench and cuts 5–40 microns in 5-micron steps. The cryostat is listed with a compressor-cooled stainless steel cold chamber and a 0–40 micron feed in 2-micron steps.

What should an export enquiry include?
Quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference if the purchase is for a tender.

Who makes this freezing microtome?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a botany, zoology and general lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The freezing microtome is produced in JLab’s own works, not resold from a trader, so universities, colleges, research laboratories, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct; every unit is visually inspected before packing, and spare razors, attachments and repeat orders are supplied by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, Mauritius in East Africa, Malta in Southern Europe, Burkina Faso in West Africa and Kuwait in the Middle East. Tender documents and information are on the JLab lab tenders page.
