What Is the Game of Place Value Used For?
Place value is the idea that a digit is worth more or less depending on where it sits. With six wires reaching up to the lakhs place, each wire stands for one place — ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands and lakhs — and the beads on a wire show the digit in that place. A wire holds at most nine beads, so a tenth cannot be added: children clear the wire and move one bead to the next place, which is what regrouping means. Primary teachers use it to build and read numbers in the Indian place-value system, compare numbers and show carrying and borrowing in addition and subtraction.

Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maths and science teaching-equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The place value abacus is produced in JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, dealers and importers order from the maker, and later orders are served by the same works. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Bangladesh in South Asia, Turkmenistan in Central Asia, Hong Kong in East Asia, Chad in Central Africa and Samoa in Oceania. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
