Boiling and Gas Preparation
To boil water or a solution, set the flask on a wire gauze so the burner flame spreads out instead of heating one spot of the glass. With a two-hole stopper, a thistle funnel and a delivery tube, the 250 ml or 500 ml size becomes a simple generator for gases such as hydrogen or carbon dioxide. Keep it no more than half full when boiling.
