Groundwater Model (code EL-ERAM-4413) is a geography and environmental science teaching model about groundwater — water located beneath the ground surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations. It helps students understand where well water comes from, since groundwater is obtained by drilling or digging wells. JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Groundwater Model Used For?
Rain that soaks into the ground fills the tiny pore spaces between soil grains and seeps into cracks in the rock below. Lower down, every space is full of water; the top of this saturated zone is the water table. A layer of permeable material such as sand, gravel, sandstone or fractured rock that stores and passes on water is an aquifer, while clay layers hold water back. A well only yields water if it is dug or drilled below the water table, and where the water table meets the land surface, water emerges as a spring.
The model supports school science and geography lessons on water resources and the water cycle, and environmental studies on why pumping out more water than rain puts back makes the water table fall — and why rainwater harvesting helps recharge it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is groundwater found?
Beneath the ground surface, in the pore spaces of soil and in fractures of rock formations.
How do people obtain groundwater?
By drilling or digging wells deep enough to reach below the water table.
What is the water table?
The upper surface of the zone in which the soil or rock is completely saturated with water. Its level rises after rain and falls when water is pumped out faster than it is recharged.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of geography, environmental science and school laboratory teaching equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. It makes its models in its own works, so schools, training institutes, dealers and importers buy straight from the producer, and each piece is inspected by eye before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Uruguay in South America, Sri Lanka in South Asia, Australia in Oceania, Morocco in North Africa and Croatia in Southern Europe.
