Human Diseases Prepared Slide (code EL-PS-8165) is a set of 10 labelled glass slides of bacteria that cause human diseases — from the organisms behind tetanus, typhoid and tuberculosis to those behind anthrax, dysentery and strep throat — used to teach students what disease-causing bacteria look like under the microscope. The slides are stored in a slotted plastic case. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Human Diseases Slide Set Used For?
The set links the diseases students read about with the organisms that cause them. It is used in class 12 biology lessons on human health and disease, in introductory microbiology at college level, and in public-health and hygiene teaching, where seeing the agent of typhoid or tuberculosis makes the topic concrete. Students can compare cell shape and arrangement: Streptococcus pyogenes forms chains of round cells (cocci), while the other bacteria in the set are rod-shaped (bacilli), and Clostridium and Bacillus belong to the spore-forming groups, whose resistant spores can survive in soil for long periods.
Bacteria are far smaller than plant or animal cells, so locate the specimen on a lower power first and then use the highest-power objective of the microscope, usually an oil-immersion lens, to see individual cells. Wipe immersion oil off the slide gently with lens paper after each use and return the slide to its slot.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Number of sets — minimum 10 units.
- Companion sets — the human pathology and microbiology sets cover diseased tissues and other microorganisms.
- Microscope — a laboratory microscope with a high-power objective is needed for bacteria; microscopes are quoted separately.
- Delivery — destination, port or city and any tender or labelling requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which bacteria are in the Human Diseases set?
Clostridium tetani, Clostridium botulinum, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus anthracis, Salmonella typhosa, Shigella dysenteriae, Proteus vulgaris and Mycobacterium tuberculosis — one labelled glass slide each.
What magnification is needed to see the bacteria?
Bacteria need the highest magnification a teaching microscope offers, normally an oil-immersion objective. A basic student microscope with only low-power objectives will not show individual cells clearly.
Why is the typhoid slide labelled Salmonella typhosa?
It is the older scientific name for the typhoid bacterium. Current textbooks usually write it as Salmonella Typhi or Salmonella typhi; it is the same organism.
Is this set intended for diagnosis?
No. It is a teaching set that shows students the appearance of these bacteria; it is not a diagnostic or clinical product.
How does it differ from the Human Pathology set?
The Human Pathology Prepared Slide set shows sections of diseased human tissues, such as tumours and inflamed organs. This set shows the bacteria themselves.
What should be included in an export enquiry?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling needs, and a tender reference if there is one.
Who manufactures this slide set?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of microbiology lab equipment and biology teaching supplies in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This set is produced in JLab’s own works, not purchased from a trader, so colleges, schools, dealers and importers order directly from the manufacturer, each set is checked by eye before dispatch, and follow-up orders come from the same works. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Norway in Northern Europe, Afghanistan in South Asia, Canada in North America, Uzbekistan in Central Asia and South Africa in Southern Africa. Information for tender purchases is on the JLab lab tenders page.
